His optics were another bit that gave me some trouble--It's actually suprisingly hard to get gold and silver optics to look like they're glowing without washing out the colors, and the added filter of CF's visor (which is more opaque, I know, but I wanted to show both it and his optics) didn't help. I'm also not sure if I mixed up his optics or not--I couldn't find anything regarding which was which, and having the gold one in the forefront made the most sense considering that one is partially hidden by the beaklike extension on his helm. (Now I've got to get back to the character I was actually supposed to be doing artwork for. XD) Drawn on my Acer Predator 17 with Autodesk Sketchbook Pro, though I scanned in a very rough version that I had scrawled in pencil at 1 AM post-exams to use as the base layer. O: Okay, squealing aside: I never specified which optic was which, so you're right on that mark. That was just something I left up to the reader.
But yeah, what you might to prevent that washout your mentioned is maybe make his faceplates teeny, tiny, ever so slightly darker in hue -- that might prevent that sort of washout when adding the glow effect. Also, I love how you blended colors on his helm to contrast well, especially making the little extensions a silver color. The beak extension turned out beautifully, as did his visor. And I love that shy, modest little smile you gave him. Suits him well. But for someone who's forte isn't humanoids, you did a remarkable job.
